How to Study Biology and Physics for AIIMS?


All India Institute of Medical Sciences is the most prestigious medical institute of the country. It holds medical entrance test every for admission of students in MBBS courses to its Institute. Lakhs of students appear at this examination, but only a few hundred are selected for admission in AIIMS. AIIMS, New Delhi, is the parent organization and its 7 more branches have been opened in different parts of the country.

As AIIMS entrance examination is tough, the aspirants require studying all the subjects of its Syllabus thoroughly. Its syllabus comprises Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. Though all demand deep and thorough study, Physics and Biology should be given extra attention. Both are also high scoring. These two subjects must also not be taken lightly. Seriousness and sincerity are two most vital factors that play a very important role in the success of examination of this standard. AIIMS Medical Entrance Examination tests intelligence, diligence and depth of knowledge of the students in the subject. The students who score 60% marks in their 12th exams in the Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects are eligible to appear for AIIMS. There is cut throat competition among the medical aspirants to get seats in AIIMS. That is why they are required to prepare for it in that way.

The medical aspirants must start their study from the 11th class itself with an aim to have medical seats in AIIMS. Only then they can compete. It is not a month or two preparations. It requires long time planning to get through the AIIMS medical entrance examination.

AIIMS syllabus is vast and comprehensive. It comprises 11th and 12 class syllabuses. So, AIIMS aspirants must read all the topics, which constitute the syllabus, in class 11th and 12th from Biology and Physics very deeply and thoroughly. AIIMS tests knowledge and understanding of concepts on the part of medical aspirants. Every chapter from Biology and Physics given below must be studied thoroughly for getting success in the medical entrance examination.

11th Class Physics: Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Work, Laws of Motion,  Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Behavior of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics,  Energy and Force, Oscillations and Waves.

12th Class Physics: Electrostatics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Current Electricity,  Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism.

11th Class Biology: Diversity in Living World, Cell Structure and Function, Structural Organization in Animals and Plants, Plant Physiology and Human Physiology.

12th Class Biology: Reproduction, Biology and Human Welfare, Genetics and Evolution, Biotechnology and Its Applications and Ecology and Environment.

While medical aspirants are doing thorough preparation, they are required to have the subject wise preparation in place also.

Medical aspirants must study all the topics thoroughly and practice the previous 10-year question papers, which will not only give them the idea about the preparation but also boost their confidence up for the entrance examination.

 Physics is a concept-based subject. That is why they need to solve all practical problems. They are also required to understand the basic concept of the subject. They are advised to go through the NCERT books on the subject. It is necessary to solve problems on a regular basis as that will help them absorb concepts and do well on the entrance exam.


The same rule applies to Biology also. Medical aspirants require going through the books of eminent authors on the subject and making well-organized and compact notes.  There must be separate notes for practical and theory. They should maintain separate notebooks for practical and theory. Lastly, the most important thing that the medical aspirants have to keep in their mind about Biology is its concept and diagrams. These two aspects of the subject will help them solve the problems easily in the examination.
